Should it be 'later' or 'latter'?

As you know, the Lotus Sutra has 28 chapters and the former 14 chapters are called Shakumon teaching, that is, the Theoretical Teaching and the later/latter 14 chapters are called Honmon teaching, that is, the Essential Teaching.

Should it be 'later' or 'latter'?

Thanks.
