Should it be "during" or "in"?

The formidable black dragon Onysablet was one of the alien dragons who traveled to Krynn from the alien dragon world during/in the early part of the Age of Mortals.

I would say in , unless this went on for a period of time, or several times, when during might be more descriptive.

Okay thanks, what about this example? Crysania Tarinius was born into a noble family in the city of Palanthas in 328 AC and became one of the most powerful clerics of Paladine during/in the Age of Despair.

I get the feeling that there were several, clerics if not many, during the Age of Despair, which lasted for some time.

Thanks. For my first one, there was about six specific dragons that traveled to Krynn in the early part of the Age of Mortals so should I still use "in"?
