Should I use 'the' in this Sentence?

I am confused about this sentence:

Prepositions of place are the prepositions that shows the position of something or someone.

Should I use 'the' before prepositions? If, yes then can I do the same with other parts of speech?

For example:

Action verbs are the verbs that shows an action.

Top answer

"The" is optional. Since the noun (prepositions / verbs) is plural, I would leave it out.
