Should I use subsequently or then?

The allies were victorious, however, during the fighting; Odila was brought to where Takhisis was announcing her return and plan to take over of the world of Krynn. Odila witnessed the return of Paladine and the other gods, followed by Takhisis being made mortal and subsequently killed by the Silvanesti king Silvanoshei Caladon.
