Should I use "originated" or "originated from"?

Not sure which usage is correct when I want to describe the source of an idea.

Hi, It depends on the structure of the sentence. eg This idea originated from my research on relativity. eg It was my research on relativity from which this idea originated.

  • Other prepositions are also possible, eg originate with / in.
