Should I use is or are

Hello there

Can someone please explain me one small confusing sentence. Emotion: indifferent

Let's say I'm writing a small email to a customer and it goes like this:

Bob - IIS and FTP is/are configured.

What should I use? I feel more comfortable with are due to I'm talking about two things ISS and FTP. Am right? If I am right do I use are all the time when I'm talking about two things? If so, maybe few examples would be great.

Thank you

Luna

You are right, and always about two things — unless they are conceived as one, as in 'Bread and butter is my favorite snack.'
