Should I say 'with' or 'within'? Is 'sustain' correctly used in the sentence?

Should I say 'with' or 'within'? (My choice is the first one. Is it correct?) Is 'sustain' correctly used in the sentence?

Discipline must start (with, within) ourselves and sustain it through our entire lives.

Both "with" and "within" can work in that sentence. The former says that discipline must start with us (not with other people), and the latter means it must start inside us. You need to change "sustain it" to "be sustained", and you could use "throughout" instead of "through".
