Should I say ‘sprung’ or ‘sprung’? Have I correctly used ‘alleged people’?

'Arose' is more natural than 'sprang', although you could use 'sprang up'. I don't know what you mean by 'alleged people'. Did somebody allege that they were people when in fact they were not?
