Should I put a gerund or infinitive verb

Is there a rule for putting an initiative form of the verb after NO like this example:
There is no substitute for emotional intelligence.

Top answer

When it comes to losing weight, there is no substitute for consuming fewer calories. The infinitive does not work here.
