Should I omit the definite article?

Hello,

Should I omit the definite article in the following sentence?

For a VoIP call, (the) call control signaling is separated from (the) media.

What about this?
For that reason, both (the) call control signaling and (the) media need to be protected.

Thanks,
Ron

I'd use it for all of those cases, simply because the unfamiliar terminology is made clearer for me with the inclusion of the definite article.
