B is fine, but I don't quite understand A.

Is this what you mean:

'Where does Maj live?'
'I'm not sure...Hey, MrP, where does Maj live?'
'Maj? Well, I can't be certain; but I see her going up those stairs every day. So I think she must live in the top flat at number 28.'
