Shortly or easily ???

Please look at the following question.

"Our venue is equipped with a basis of 20 workstations running all necessary softwares, which can be ___ doubled when necessary.

A) shortly B) easily C)slowly D) softly

The correct answer is B) easily. Could someone explain to me why A) shortly can't be the best answer?
