Shortenings

Hi,Everybody
I have been having some problems with these shortening,Could you help me ,please?

While reading a book , I heard a noise.
2 - While I was reading a book, The door was knocked. ---

3. While doing Pilates , the ming has to control the movements.

I've known that when doing this shortening, both sentences' subjects must be the same,
So only first one should be correct. But I have seen 2 and 3 sentences around too.
Please enlighten me.
