Shortage of ...

Hi

For our second US leg we went back indoors. It probably should have been a stadium tour but because of shortage of tickets when the first leg went on sale we put the second leg up early, and in doing so made commitment to playing the venues we had on hold at that point. So in hindsight we solved one problem but at a cost. We certainly could have sold the tickets.

--- I understand that they played indoor because they didn't play in some places during the 1st leg and they wanted to come back there (maybe fans were waiting for them or something). Also when they did it they probably lost some money because they could have played outdoor and make much more money, and this is clear. However I don't get the part about tickets? What does the shortage of tickets have to do with planning the 2nd leg earlier? It seems to me this sentence is confusing and I don't get the meaning?

I presume that there were not enough tickets for all the people that wanted to see the show in the first leg, so they hastened to offer them tickets to the second leg instead-- including those for the venues that had been 'on hold' (not yet commitments).

Hi

I understand that "on hold" means the ones they didn't play at last time. They omitted some venues during the first leg and decided to come back to them during the 2nd leg. This is how I understand "on hold".

So they sold the tickets earlier and said they will come back to the venues they didn't play last time.
