Gifted kids read twice as general kids

511 gifted children and 808 children of a control group keep a record of each book read during a period of two months. The records revealed that the average gifted child was reading 15 books by age 11. Control group average read in two months less than half that of the gifted. The gifted children reading over a wider range than the control children. The gifted, much more often than the control group, preferred science, history, biography, travel, poetry, drama, and informational fiction.
