Short story 1

There was a king who had three beautiful daughters. One day he asked them who had made them princesses. Two of them who were flatterer replied it was because of their father. This made the king very happy, but the third one who was the youngest, the most beautiful and was a humble creature said Allah had made her a princess. This made the king very angry. He sent her out into a jungle and asked her to become a princess without his help. There she spent many days wandering praying to Allah for help. At last the help came and she met a poor old woman who had four sons. She took her home as she was kind and desirous to have a daughter. Her sons treated the princess with great love and honour as they were desirous to have a sister. As the old woman’s house was small therefore they decided to build a bigger house so that their foster sister could have a separate room. When they started laying the foundation for their new house, they found a treasure there. So they built a big palace there instead. One day a handsome prince came there for hunting and saw the princess. He fell in love with her and decided to marry her. He invited many kings to his marriage. The princess father was also there, and he was the first to give her a precious marriage gift. There he recognised the bride as his own daughter. He was sorry for what he had done to her, but the princess said that she was not annoyed with him but he must accept that she was destined a princess by Allah and that he had nothing to do with this.

Conflict in the story: The king in his anger leaves his youngest daughter in a jungle to prove herself.
