I have a few questions related to a certain passage.
Two women met. One of them came back from a hospital because she had a serious accident. Wesley Baines had commited suicide (it happened before she went to the hospital).
A woman speaks to the one who came back from the hospital:
That was a terrible thing to happen.
Coming so close to poor Wesley Baines, too. I can't figure out what is that supposed to mean? Wesley Baines died cause he probably commited suicide and I think the words "that was a terrible thing to happen" refer to the woman who had an accident and came back from the hospital.
Cast right a gloom on the village, that did. Does it mean that his death cast a gloom on the village?
And so unfair, when you’d been so brave about
saving them sheep. Mr Frisby talk about giving you a medal – you know his way. Should it be "the" sheep instead of "them"? Does "you know his way" mean "You know what he's like".
