Short paragraph

We probably have pretty similar backgrounds, I'm also an African American, lived in all parts of California, currently getting my management training/experience here at CC, then I'm going back home to expand my career.

Please proofread. Should there be a period between the first and second sentence?

No, don't say that. In the first place, it is structurally wrong, as I have already indicated twice, and in the second place, you are not African Am
