Short of words

Hello everyone!

I am learning English as my second language for quite a while now. My English is just OK but now I really want to shift gears and speak fluent English as I am planning to settle in the US. My real problem is in the spoken form of English as I often get short of words. I need to pause for a while to think of the words that fit into the sentence to express what I really want. So is there any way that may help me speak without much hiccups?

(P.S. please rate my writing skills as well though this is just a very small section)
