Short leave request

i would like to request a 1 week leave as i am going home to my country to take my son with me. kindly help me how to ask approval from my boss.

I've got the residence visa for my son last December 31, 2008. Hence, i would like to request a leave starting from Jan. 15, 2009 till Jan.22, 2009 as i am going home to phillippines to bring him here in Abu Dhabi.
