Short circuit

Can a native speaker tell me how to write them correct?

)My headphone are short circuiting. The music stops playing or gets staticy. I have to movie the wire around for the music to come back.

)The short circuit is very sensitive. If I move the jack of my headphones the slightest bit, the music starts to static and cut.

Is short circuit the proper word for this situation?
