Shoot the breeze

Hi,

Is there an equivalent to 'shoot the breeze' in British English? I know that I could just say 'have a casual conversation', but the phrase 'shoot the breeze' had me wondering if British English has something similar.

Thank you.

Perhaps chew the fat. People used to say that in England. I don't know if they still do.

I believe they can "have a natter".
