The modifier "shoddy" makes no sense.

I think the intention was to write shoddy lymphadenectomy.

A lymphadenectomy is the surgical removal of a lymph node. If it's shoddy, it's badly done.

A shoddy lymphadenectomy is a lymphadenectomy which looks as if a very poor surgeon performed it.

Hi,

Do you meant to say that it was wrongly typed in the document?

Report says that the patient condition is suggestive of shoddy lymphadenopathy. Patient did not undergo surgery. If shoddy makes no sence here then it must be wrongly typed.

I wonder if it means that an imvesgation has been done which suggests that the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy was shoddy?

eg perhaps the patient does not really have this condition.

Hi, Suggestive of refers to suspiciousness about a disease which further requires confirmation test. Patient may or may not have suspected disease unless further confirmation is done. So, it is the matter of probability.

It is shotty lymphadenopathy, resembling shot or pellets of lead, shotgun pellets and, hence, hard and round.

Shotty is very commonly used in describing the feel of lymph nodes (the lymph glands) when they are palpated (felt) through the skin. "Shotty" lymph nodes are ones that are not only hard and round but also small.

It is actually shoddy. This means not of good quality because little care was taken.

Is it lymphademopathy with an M or lymphadenopathy with an N?

Lymph is the clear liquid that flows throughout the lymphatic system within the body. This is the system that includes many of your glands and all of your sinuses. A sinus is simply any empty space within the body.

Lymphadema is a condition in which the body is unable to effective move that fluid around, causing it to collect in the tissues of the arms and legs. This is common in people with heart conditions and the very obese as well as people who suffer from poor circulation. The effects of lymphadema can be seen very obviously because those people's lower legs and ankles will be very very swollen and puffy looking.

Lymphademopathy would be a common name for the various treatments for lymphadema (-pathy means treatment). The most common treatments are having the patient keep their legs elevated (in less severe cases) to assist with drainage, draining the tissues in extreme cases, and most often, is therapy by a lymphadema massage therapist.

(I once worked as a healthcare recruiter and had to learn all about this to help some hospitals hire people).
