Shipping or shipment?

I've studied WiKiDiff. I still don't understand difference between these two nouns.

Top answer

The main difference is that "shipment" can be a countable noun ("a shipment", "several shipments") while "shipping" cannot.

Shipment - transfer of goods by ships/merchant vessels.

Shipping - a business that deals with using ships/vessels as the means of transportation at sea.

The term shipping originally referred to transport by sea, but is extended in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_English to refer to transport by land or air (International English: "carriage") as well.
