Sheer?!

I have a huge doubt! I´m subtitling a video and the voice over at some point says "This is the sheer of older people in them". What does it means? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
The whole transcript is here...
"Our world is changing. And this change is visible across the globe. More than fifty percent of our population now lives in cities. This cities are growing. This is the sheer of older people in them. while space to live is becoming more precious...."

It does not make sense. I can't think of a word that sounds like sheer that fits there. Are you sure there isn't another word immediately after sheer ?

  • Perhaps you could post a link to the video if it is available online, or record the relevant audio and post it to somewhere like SoundCloud so we can hear it.
  • By the way, This cities are growing probably should be These cities are growing or The cities are growing.
