Sheep has/sheep have?

Hi Everyone,

I know that 'sheep' is classed as a group, as well as singular.

Which sentence do you prefer?

- The sheep has eaten
- The sheep have eaten.

I personally prefer the second, but what do others think?

Thanks

The first sentence is talking about one sheep; the second sentence is talking about more than one. The plural of "sheep" is the same as the singular.
