She wears her nails IN a french manicure??

How would you properly say this?

She wears her nails in a french manicure.

Is it "in"?

Thank you

Top answer

No, "in" is not appropriate here. It sounds as if you are saying that she wears her nails "inside of" something called a french manicure. "She has a french manicure" or "Her style of manicure is known as a french manicure" is all you need to say.

  • Manicure states the obvious: that it's on the nails of her fingers and not her toes, that the nails are attached, that the style of manicure is french manicure (white underneath the exposed portion of the nail).

You're welcome.

No, your phrase is not natural.

The most natural way of saying what you are trying to say is "she usually gets a french manicure".

Hello Alex,

The first thread did not work. The system says that the page has been removed.

The answers given by Philip in the second thread are identical to those that I would have offered.

Some of the sentences feel stilted, however, and I would not use them. Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong with the grammar.
