She tried to fancy me, but I didn't .............

Could you fill in the blank with any appropriate words?

What are you trying to say? We don't use the word "fancy" with "try", because "fancy" implies a natural attraction, without trying. I fancy that red sports car.

  • It also means "imagine myself doing something I desire" I fancy going to the beach and lying in the sun.

Could be so many things:
..but I didn't fancy her.
...but I didn't respond
...but I didn't feel the same way

She tried to fancy me, but I didn't meet her expectations.

she tried to fancy me, but I didn't make much of an impression, what with my dirty clothes, lanky hair, cross-eyes and bad breath.

(Your use of 'she tried to fancy me' means she didn't actually fancy you but she attempted to MAKE herself fancy you, which of course, you can't do)
