Hi teachers.
Please check the sentences first.
1. He told me she was a student.
2. He told me she is a student.
What I know is that we cannot use a present tense in a subordinate clause if the main clause is past tense. So #1 certainly correct.
However, I learned that if she is still a student (at the time a speaker is saying) we say like #2.
I wonder whether my understanding is right or not.
Thank you very much. I always aporeciate you guys help.
Have a wonderful day.
Michelle Cha if she is still a student (at the time a speaker is saying) we say like #2. Yes, and either one is ok.
