I have two questions.

First, what does the following mean?

She thought about her life before of course she did.

Does it mean she thought about her life before she was imprisoned.

The girl in fact was robbed by two strangers and now is imprisoned somewhere.

And the second one, what does a dozen times mean?

They came down to visit me- as they called it- nearly a dozen times.

I myself think a dozen times here means 12. Am I right?
