She sorts various products

According to the speaker, what does Amy do at her company?

She sorts various products.

Does the line in bold indicate "She classifies/divides different products?" Thanks.

She divides them into to different... I don't know... piles?

  • She divides them into to different...
  • I don't know...
  • piles?
  • Bins?
  • She must have some sort of classification system that she uses, but I wouldn't use "classifies" here.

She divides them into to different... I don't know... piles? Bins? She must have some sort of classification system that she uses, but I wouldn't use "classifies" here. Classifies sounds more like a mental exercise, and she seems to handle theh products physically.

A scientist can classify animals without touching them.

If I say "Jean classifies nuts" I would think that Jean says "that's from the same famliy as almonds" and "that's a legume."

If I say "Jean sorts nuts" I would think that Jean works on an assembly line, putting the pecans in one bin, the walnuts in another, etc.

Does that make any more sense?
