She said

She said I've gotten skinnier. And

She said I got skinnier.

What's the difference between these two sentences.

Thanks!

Do they practically mean the same thing?

Hi,

She said I've gotten skinnier. This suggests I'm skinnier now, at the present time.

And

She said I got skinnier. This tells us nothing about the preent situation. Maybe I got skinnier this week. But maybe I got skinnier 20 years ago. We don't know. We just know it was at some time in the past. But usually, the context will clarify the meaning.
