Two people are looking at some photos. The photos are from the 90s

Peter: My father looks very different. Is that other person, my mother?
Taylor: Yes, she is.

My question:
Are both answers possible? If yes, why?
Taylor: Yes, she is.
Taylor: Yes, it is.
