She Is Coming Home Tonight!
The carpets steam-washed
and vacuumed with care.
The black leather sofa and the loveseat;
The ottomans that go with these,
All dusted and polished.
The glass centre piece shining like new.
The tree in the right hand corner
of the big living room, watered.
The plastic flowers hanging
From the ceilings giving
a designer look, washed .
The dining table lined
with white laced cloth
with pink flower trimmings.
And the dolphins playing
on the blue place-mats.
The exotic fragrance of cooking
Chicken with spinach,
The Chinese fried rice
with vegetables stir fried.
The baking smell of the
Heart shaped cake filled with nuts,
The aroma of the creamy carrot pudding
all of them filling the air.
The air conditioner running at its best.
The white lights in the hallway,
The dimmers in the living room,
The blue and pink soft lights
In the dining area,
all glowing with brilliance.
The bathroom whiffing with fresheners
The bedroom with room perfume
The bath tub filled with lukewarm water
with scented candles waiting to be lighted.
