She has shown a little improvement in adjustment.

Hi

Is the underlined sentence OK? Any other suggestions are welcome.

(teacher's remark on a student report card -- a foreign student who couldn't adjust to the new surroundings of the school)

Although Karen has shown some improvement in adjustment, academically, she still needs to work very hard to reach the required standard of the class.

Thanks,

Tom

There is some confusion as to what 'academically' refers to; this is clearer, I think: Although Karen has shown some improvement in adjusting to the school, academically she still needs to work very hard to achieve the required class standards.
