Dear teachers,
Can I say like this to express the idea that Mary was very unhappy in the past and her unhappiness still continues up to now ?

Poor Mary! In the past she suffered a lot because her parents abandoned her and now her husband is betraying her.She is very sad and living a miserable life now.She has never been happy until now.
