She had waken/woken him up at the crack of dawn.

Hello. My Microsoft underlines 'waken' in blue and seems to only accept the above phrase if I put 'woken' instead, but I am still a bit unsure because 'woken him up' seems so awkward to me. Which form would you use?

Anonymous'woken him up' seems so awkward to me.
That is American English. It is what I always use.

She had waken/woken him up at the crack of dawn.
It should be She had wakened him at the crack of dawn.
