Hi. Please help me to understand the difference between two sentences below.

1) She had taken a picture. She knew how she wanted it to be. She would have liked to wear a simple white blouse...

The difference is, the first one is past perfect act

grammarfreakI don't really see the relevance of this passage to the question.
While I was reading "carried away" I saw that grammar and then I was wondering what would differ if I change that part, hence I included some context of that story in my question.
