She better is or she better be?

Hello there,

I am Dutch and have a question.

Someone asked me: Is she happy?

I answered: She better is.

Then she told me that it has to be: she better be!

Of course now I want to know who is right?!

Thanks

I believe you are asking about the idiom 'had better'. The implication is that if some action is not done, there will be negative consequences. In other words it's a little like a threat.
