Can I say,
(a) The glass of the display case was shattered to/ into pieces on the floor.

(b) There were a few (gun) shots follewed by the loud sound of shattered glass.

You can say that there was shattered glass lying on the floor, but you cannot say that there was a sound of shattered glass - that would have to be sound of shattering glass.
