Sharing a phrase?

Hi. Would you say what is in parentheses is shared? Is this sentence correct? I am not sure about the comma after "thinking." I think the word "desire" needs an article but wonder whether an article could be shared (if that is the right word).

To me, a bit of creative thinking, (a bit of?) desire to help others through volunteering and give someone something nice often will help you become a better person.

'A bit of desire' is not really a reasonable concept, but in any case your sentence needs rewriting: To me, a bit of creative thinking, a desire to help others through volunteer work , and frequent gifts to others of something nice will help you become a better person .
