Shareholder: he or it

I have often seen in contracts that parties to a contract are designated with pronoun "it". I wonder if this rule also applies to other cases, e.g. shareholders in articles of association.

A business entity, such as the one acting at the contracting authority, is referred to as "it." If you have a situation in which individual people are being referred to, use "he or she."
