share in the household chores

Every family member should share in the household chores.

Hi,

Is it possible to omit "in" in the above without making a change in meaning? Thanks.

Thanks, Anon.

But it seems odd to me to have "in" in the base sentence. Could you explain why it's still OK with "in?"
