Share Based FDBs or Share Price Based FDBs?

Hi,

I am working on a proposal essay and I have serious grammar problem. I am trying to say some finance forums specifically based on share prices. So I wrote "share based FDBs" (FDBs = Financial Discussion Boards). But my supervisor said "what does this means?". Emotion: sad

Should I call it "share price based FDBs"? The "FDBs" must be there. I just don't understand how to say FDBs which based on share prices.

I will appreciate if anyone can help me out on this.

Thank you!

Hi, 'Share based' sounds to me like you are perhaps describing how the forums themselves are paid for. How about financial forums that discuss share prices ? I see no need for capital letters.

I supposed it's even annoying if I write too many "financial forums that discuss share prices". The abbreviation "FDBs" is also set by my supervisor. Do you have any other way in describing it? My supervisor highlighted the words "share based" and commented "Wh

Hi,

The first time you use FDB, add the full term in parentheses. After that, just say FDB each time.

If they are 'share-based', my understanding is that this means 'they discuss shares'. Do you have a better explanation?

Hi Clive,

I am so sorry as I didn't notice you replied to my question. I could be deleted the notification email by accident.

You are right, they discuss about shares. But I just don't understand why my supervisor insisted that the examiner will not understand the first mentioned "share based FDBs". At the end, I put "share price based FDBs". Hope this time around he is sa

Hi,

Do you think "share price based FDBs" is a good one? It seems weird to me.

You have to decide whether you are writing for people who already understand about these things, or for general readers who know little or nothing.
