Shaping vs profiling, wich one is the best?

This term can be found in the marble field. The meaning of this word should indicate a particular type of machining. Have you ever seen a marble fireplace surround? Or the edge finishes of a marble table? With this machining you remove the material to obtain such kind of pieces. It is obtained projecting a profile along a direction. This direction can be a line (see the marble fireplace surround) or an oval (see the edge of a table). My problem is that I'm not sure the word "Profiling" is the correct one. Many online translator for the Italian word "sagomatura" they reply with "Shaping". There are in commerce some "edge shaping machine". But at the same time ther are some "profiling machine" that do the same thing. You can google for both of them. Wich one is the best? Profiling or shaping?
