Shall I say

Hi

Could you please help me punctuate this sentence?

My attempts are these.

  1. He was very, shall I say rude?
  2. He was very-- shall I say -- rude.
  3. He was very, shall I say, rude.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: I could not put m-dash in the second sentence. But it is m-dash.
