Say, I am the outgoing chairman of a society and I am writing an email to those who have cast their votes for the next society. Can I say this?
-Your generous support shall (here WILL or WOULD would be correct) be their effective motivation for their coming works.
SHALL sounds OK, but I think it is wrong. The subject 'your generous support' is in the third person, so SHALL could only, at least in modern English, mean 'it is my order, or volition, or command, or decree that that the support be their motivation', which is absurd, because an outgoing chairman is not in a position to say such things. Do native speakers agree?
