shade vs a shade vs shadow vs a shadow

Hi,

Please let me clarify the difference between "shade," "a shade," "shadow," and a "shadow".

Please go check this site to have the same picture.

For me the object to block the sun light is "a shade" and the clear bark shape made by it on the ground is "a shadow." And the room between them can be called either "shade" or "shadow"

Am I right?

Thanks,
M
