Hi. Please help me with these sentences with phrases that have post-modification. Thank you in advance for your help.

1. Which is correct, "the" or "a"?

Your present situation is the/a result of your attitude.

2. Which is correct, "the" or "a"? This is a crude definition of the word "goalkeeper" I came up with.

A goalkeeper is the/a player in a team who takes care of his or her team's goal.

3. Do example sentences a and b say they discussed and were discussing all the topics from yesterday's meeting respectively?

a. They discussed the topics from yesterday's meeting.
