Settlement under a contract

Hello!

I would like to know what 'settlement' means in the following sentence:

"XXX and XXX may terminate, rescind or cancel a Contract or agree any variation, waiver or settlement under a Contract without the Customers’ consent."

Could it possibly refer to the settlement of disputes?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I thought of payments as well but wasn't sure. Thank you!
